Nofrey M. Fornaro Jr. passed away suddenly in Bangor, Maine, on July 30, 2025. He is survived by his wife Lucinda and his three children: Matthew, Ashley, and Michael. Nofrey was born on August 20, 1954 in Summit, NJ, to the late Betty and Nofrey Fornaro Sr.
Visiting will be on Thursday August 7 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Armitage Wiggins funeral Home. Burial will follow the following morning at 11:00 a.m. in Arlington Cemetery. If you wish you may arrive at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m.
Growing up, he spent his summers working at the family farm in Berkely Heights with his 5 siblings, Charlie, Ann, Lucy, Dominick, and Joey. He loved working alongside his father at Inland Freightways before opening his own companies, NMF Trucking and North Jersey Container Transport Inc.
His first date with Lucinda was at Wendy’s in Harrison. They married in December 1984 and raised their family in Freehold, NJ.
At 40, his brother-in-law Ben took him under his wing and Nofrey became a union carpenter. He was a longtime foreman at Unity Construction, where he took great pride in mentoring young tradesmen like Mo and Joey. Though semi-retired, he continued for the last 10 years helping his son Michael at his company Northern NJ Interiors.
Nofrey loved boating with his family on Lake Wallenpaupack, renovating his camp in St. Albans, Maine, watching Hallmark movies, listening to the Rolling Stones, and sipping on a big drink. He also loved hiking at Shuman’s Point with Leilani and his granddogs: Cooper, Honey, and Peach.
He’ll be remembered for his work ethic, his fierce love for his family, his sage advice, and his many unforgettable “Nofreyisms.”
