Mary Julia Ann Thiry, a native of Newark, N.J., and longtime resident of Kearny, passed away peacefully, the early hours of Saturday, September 27, 2025, in Absecon, N.J.. She was 82 years old.
Mary, also known as “Mimi”, was a beloved and an extremely dedicated mother of John Anthony Thiry (Rebecca). She was also the cherished “Nanney” of her granddaughter, Britney Eulauria. She is survived by siblings Larry (of Rumson) and Frank (of Colts Neck) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Julia (nee Stafanyak) and father, Joseph, Sr., as well as siblings Elizabeth, Edward, Andrew, William, Joseph Jr., Margaret and Fred.
Visiting will be Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Friday, October 3, 2025, from 8:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at the Wilfred Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home located at 596 Belgrove Drive in Kearny. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, beginning at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, located on the corner of Davis and Bergen Avenues in Kearny. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Brigantine Marine Mammal Stranding Center (Brigantine, N.J.).
