Donald W. Moss passed away from cancer on August 28, 2026. He is survived by Kathy Moss, his wife of 57 years, his daughter Jennifer Moss, his son and daughter-in-law Jim and Lisa Moss, his granddaughters Kayla and Riley, his brother Robert Moss, plus two dogs, two cats, and a hermit crab. He also leaves behind many other wonderful family and friends.
Donald was born on March 19, 1944, while his father was away fighting in WWII. He grew up in the old barracks of Kearny before moving to Beech Street.
He served in the Army and went on to work for the phone company as he got married and raised two kids. He was a lifelong lover of history, an avid fan of the Yankees and the Giants, and he enjoyed playing chess, pinochle, and watching Jeopardy. He was active in Kearny’s community: he volunteered as a board member of the Kearny Museum, a trustee at the First Baptist Church of Arlington, a member of the Friends of Kearny Library and he was a past president of the West Hudson Optimists.
Donald’s private funeral arrangements will be handled by Armitage & Wiggins in Kearny. In lieu of flowers, please honor him with a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Kearny Museum, located in the Kearny Public Library.
