Dennis Branda, passed away at home on May 21, 2020. He was 70. Born and raised in Hoboken. Visiting will be on Saturday October 24, 2020 from 12:00 until 2:00 pm at the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home 596 Belgrove Drive, Kearny. A Memorial Service will start at 1:30 pm.
He worked at Maxwell House for many years before establishing his career with American President Lines. In 2003 he began working at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church where he was lovingly known as the Handyman and he was able to devoutly practice his Catholic Faith.
He graduated from Hoboken High School in 1966 and served in the Army Reserves from 1969 to 1972.
He is predeceased by his wife Patricia Branda who passed in 1998. He is survived by his daughter Detra Ann, son-in-law Michael, grandchildren Justin, Mykailla and Karegan. He is also predeceased by his in-laws Dolores and Andrew. He is survived by his brothers Anthony (Elizabeth) Paris (Peggy) and his loving cousin Lenny (Denise), his brother-in-laws Luke and Albie, and the late Andrew, a host of cousins, nephews and nieces, his extended family through his son-in-law Michael. He was known as Dad to his daughter’s friends and Pop Pop to his grandchildren’s friends. He is missed by his Wildwood Crest and Cape May “family” and friends. He made Wildwood Crest his home 21 years after enjoying every summer of his life in the Crest were he met his companion Amelia Famigletti before her passing in 2010. He was gifted an extended family with Amelia’s children, Karen, David, Lisa and her grandchildren Tara and Teddy. He was loved by his neighbors and dear friends in the Crest and Cape May and lovingly known as the Mayor of Fern Road. Dennis enjoyed the beach, music and the company of family and friends at his home. His porch was known as the place to gather and make memories while he served up his best drinks, showing his bartending skills. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and the Elks.
He was a loving son, dedicated brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. He was a loyal, devoted husband, loving father and dotting grandfather. He was a true gentleman, a faithful friend and steadfast handyman in so many ways.
