Honore Metzinger (nee Mulligan), 87 of Kearny passed away on May 16, 2021.
Funeral is from the Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr. Kearny on Thursday at 9 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Church in Kearny at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation is on Wednesday from 3-7 PM at the funeral home.
Born in Kearny, Honore was a lifelong resident. A 1952 graduate of Kearny High School, she attended Washington Secretarial School and worked as a legal secretary at the firm of Stryker, Tams and Dill for 15 years, retiring in October 1992. She was also a devoted parishioner of St. Cecilia’s Church, and a longtime member of the Kearny Seniors Club.
The youngest child of the late Louise (nee Elmer) and Paul L. Mulligan, Honore was the beloved wife of 66 years to Donald R. Metzinger; loving mother of Marc A. Metzinger (Maureen) and Louise T. Metzinger-Mahlbacher (Robert) and the late Donald R. Metzinger, Jr. She was the dear grandmother of Bret and Brad Shugrue, Marc Metzinger (Kristin), Eileen O’Donnell (Matthew) and Crystal Mahlbacher, and adoring great-grandmother of Brianne and Audrey O’Donnell, Marc P., Maryssa and Mackenna Metzinger and Magnus Mael. She was also the dear sister of the late Paul, John, William and Marie Hielscher.
Honore is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
